Electric car fans attending this year's Los Angeles Auto Show have the opportunity to test drive the new all-electric Polestar 4. This EV blends 'Scandinavian cool' and minimalist design with the roomy practicality of an SUV. Its cutting-edge EV performance and sleek, modern styling offers more performance and innovative design than the alternative Polestar 2 and sportier and larger Polestar 3.

AERODYNAMIC

All aerodynamic features are integrated in the design elements to minimize drag and maximize range and performance. The low, stylish front has air curtains below the headlights. There is flush glazing and door handles for a smooth exterior. There are uncluttered surfaces, a completely flat floor,. smooth silhouette, and modern interior without unnecessary ornamentation.

DRIVE OPTIONS

The driver can adjust the feel of the progressive electric power steering according to preference in the Polestar 4. Select from three modes: 'light' for navigating city streets and parking lots, 'standard' for motorways and 'firm' for active driving on twisty roads.

There are also two drive options for the Polestar 4. The single-motor is rear wheel drive with 220 kW and 272 hp. Step on the one pedal assist to go 0–60 mph in 6.9 to 7.0 seconds.

BATTERY AND RANGE

The long range battery is up to 310 miles for the single motor and 280 miles for the long range dual motor. A great feature on this EV is the energy-saving heat pump. Waste heat from the heat pump warms the cabin and preserves the vehicle's charge for more on the road time. This makes use of the run-off thermal energy from the electric motors, battery and ambient air.

CHARGING AND EFFICIENCY

Fast charge at a DC charger up to 200 kW to charge the battery from 10% to 80% in about 30 to 35 minutes. A full charge with a standard AC charger takes roughly 5.5 to 11 hours at home.

DESIGN AND INTERIOR

Soft muted colors and materials that are sustainable and premium recycled inside add to the serenity of the vehicle. Low-impact textiles and transparent environmental reporting make cool also mean responsible.

A 15.4-inch landscape touchscreen high-tech infotainment drives the cabin, powered by Google Built-In (Android Automotive OS). This gives the driver and passengers Google Maps, Google Assistant, and others helpful apps built into the car.

The standard digital instrument cluster is 10.2'. There is an optional heads-up display that comes with certain trim packs.

AMBIENT LIGHTING

Once senses a premium vibe with interior lighting styled with a “solar-system” motif. A light line orbits around the cabin, offering mood lighting and customizable ambiance.

NO TRADITIONS BRAKES

One pedal drive saves the life of the brakes. These brakes are made by Italian motorsport icon Brembo, known for their excellence in engineering performance brakes. Their 392 x 34 mm front brakes and 36 x 26 rear ventilated discs with aluminum four-piston calipers ensure a quick response at racing temperatures, while reducing weight, wear and brake dust.

NO TRADITIONAL REAR WINDOW

Instead of a standard rear windshield, the Polestar 4 has a full-length glass roof that stretches over both the front and rear seats. The digital rearview mirror projects real-time high-resolution images from a rear-mounted HD camera.

PRICE

Polestar isn’t a showy vehicle like some luxury brands, instead, it leans towards understated, refinement, and calm confidence. The price of a Polestar 4 starts at $56,400 MSRP, or you can lease the EV for $599 a month for 36 months.
