Bentley Motors, the British automaker, which is owned by the Volkswagen Group, has gone from a stodgy maker of high-end luxury vehicles to a contemporary trendsetter among premium vehicles. The company has reworked its brand masterfully.
The firm has expanded its offerings over the years. In addition to the “big” cars, Bentley produces deluxe automobiles that are fuel-efficient and high-performance.
The Bentley SUV is expected to hit the market by 2016. The car is will be based on the EXP 9F concept that was introduced at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show. The new SUV will be built at the factory in Crewe,. The move will create about 1,000 new jobs.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron participated in the festivities surrounding the announcement at Bentley headquarters last Tuesday, the IB Times reports.
“One vehicle rolls off a production line somewhere in the UK every 20 seconds, and we have just launched the government’s Automotive Industrial Strategy to help continue this success for years to come,” Cameron said, referring to a government and industry partnership announced earlier this month.
