Finding a great restaurant south of Boston used to be a difficult feat, but The Winsor House Inn restaurant is making it a bit easier. Located in the quaint little seaside village known as Duxbury, the inn resting on Snug Harbor is now under new ownership, offering a unique twist on New England fare.

In 2013, husband and wife Chuck Weilbrenner and Holly Safford, and their sons Andrew and Alex Marconi, took over ownership, maintaining its English-style pub atmosphere complete with cozy fireplace, quaint main carriage house and comfortable pub. Raised in England with an Italian heritage, Executive Chef Franco Carubia designed a menu that shows off his roots while adding some local flavors and ingredients.

As an appetizer, try the warm zucchini matchsticks with toasted almonds, extra virgin olive oil and pecorino. Sure, you can find traditional pub fare like huge and meaty chicken wings, but opt for something different like the tasty buratta topped with ash vinaigrette made from vegetables, one of the most creative and flavorful dishes we have ever tasted.

For dinner, the super moist and juicy organic roasted chicken with a mix of vegetables and black garlic gnocchi comes highly recommended. Or try the fresh Atlantic salmon which arrives with a delicious parmesan and herb crust along with Yukon potatoes cured lemon and pea puree. Along with a great meal, the service is also on point. It’s not unusual to see General Manager Michael Ceku walking throughout the dining room ensuring every diner has an enjoyable experience.
