Patriots fans everywhere are bitterly cursing their elimination from this year’s Super Bowl, and surely that includes more than a few Boston residents. But don’t let temporary defeat keep you from enjoying one of America’s favorite pastimes. I mean, who wants to miss out on an event that makes you actually want to watch commercials, includes beer and the potential for a Destiny’s Child reunion? Oh yeah, and the football part too. Poe’s Kitchen At The Rattlesnake Burrito Bowl
“Burrito Bowl III” is being held at Poe’s Kitchen at the Rattlesnake on Saturday, February 2 from 1 pm to 3:30 pm. This culinary competition brings together some of Boston’s best chefs to determine whose burrito creation reigns supreme. In honor of the following day’s Super Bowl XLVII, each chef will create a signature burrito, “bowl-style,” reflecting the city of their favorite NFL team. Participating chefs this year include: Burrito Bowl I champ, Taranta’s Jose Duarte (Miami Dolphins); Burrito Bowl II reigning champ, Lolita’s Brian Roche (Oakland Raiders); Tremont 647’s Andy Husbands (Seattle Seahawks); Church’s Josh Rush (Philadelphia Eagles); Boloco’s Jason Hutchinson (San Diego Chargers); Poe’s Kitchen at the Rattlesnake’s Shawn Russell (Buffalo Bills); Estelle’s Southern Cuisine’s Eric Gburski (New Orleans Saints); and, the Tip Tap Room’s Brian Poe (Atlanta Falcons). Tickets are $20 per person.
Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse Tailgate Menu
Available now through February 3, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse is offering a special tailgating-themed, prix fixe menu for Super Bowl XLVII. Created by Corporate Chef Rodney Murillo, the four-course spread is available for $70 per person. Menu items include Philly Cheese Steak Spring Rolls; Gnocchi Bolognese with braised beef, pork, and tomato sauce; Amish Free-Range Chicken accompanied by sautéed spinach, whipped Yukon potatoes, and sugo natural; to finish, espresso soaked lady fingers with Mascarpone cream. Davio’s is also participating in this year’s Taste of the NFL Super Bowl Eve event “Party with a Purpose.” A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Taste of the NFL benefiting The Greater Boston Food Bank.
Don’t be sad. The Patriots may not be making a trip to the Super Bowl this year, but head to Cheers where everyone knows your name and shake off this year’s defeat. The friendly neighborhood bar is a great place to go watch the game on the venue’s big screen TVs, grab a few beers and enjoy a Burger Meister and a basket of fries. Cheers on Beacon Hill also offers Tuesday night beer tastings, so if there’s a bitter taste in your mouth after this year’s season, head to Cheers on February 5th for a palate cleanser. The Sam Adams Brewing Company will be providing samples for your tasting pleasure.
