AAA has just awarded the Park Hyatt New York their prestigious Five Diamond rating. It is a first for the hotel which has only been open since August 2014 and the ninth property in the city to recieve the rating. The hotel was given the title for its spacious rooms, designer furnishings and extra-large soaking tubs. In-room amenities like a custom beverage center, fine linens and media hub add to the comfort of each suite. AAA praised the resort’s 1,845-square-foot business center, indoor pool and collection of fine art which boasts over 350 pieces, 10 of which were commissioned specifically for the hotel.
"At the Five Diamond level, we're seeing hotels using new technology to expand the scope and depth of the traditional hallmarks of ultra-luxury accommodations: indulgent pampering and highly personalized service," said Michael Petrone, director of AAA Inspections & Diamond Ratings.
At Park Hyatt New York there’s no need to visit the front desk—iPad-armed greeters await guests in the lobby to personally check them in and take them up to their quarters. They can also improve a visitor’s experience by notating their likes, dislikes and preferences on the tablet. Rooms include media hubs outfitted with a tablet that allows travelers to find things to do in the area or, if they prefer to stay on the property, book reservations at the restaurant, appointments at the spa or order in room service.
Park Hyatt was one of six to be given the title this month, bringing the total Five Diamond resorts in North America to just 118. According to Booking.com, New York is currently home to 722 hotels, which makes Park Hyatt's new status all the more impressive. Properties also awarded the rating included St. Regis Deer Valley in Park City, Utah, a ski-in/ski-lout lodge with exceptional mountaintop views; The Cloister in Sea Island, Georgia, a seaside hotel with five miles of private beach; and The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain in Marana, Arizona, a desert resort with exceptional golf and spa facilities. Outside of the US, awards were also presented to the Hotel Mousai in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and the Trump International Hotel and Tower Toronto.
