Downtown Los Angeles diners looking to spice up their week have a new reason to head to the Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles. Corteza at Sendero has launched Nikkei Night, a new Thursday evening dining experience that celebrates the culinary connection between Japan and Peru through a menu of vibrant seafood dishes, bold flavors, and creative cocktails.
Created by Executive Chef Hendrix Vega, the weekly offering draws inspiration from Nikkei cuisine, the fusion that emerged when Japanese immigrants settled in Peru and blended traditional Japanese techniques with local Latin American ingredients. The result is a menu that combines fresh seafood with bright citrus, peppers, herbs, and Peruvian influences.
Among the highlights is the Hamachi Roll, which layers yellowtail with mango, coconut-habanero sauce, kewpie mayo, and serrano pepper for a combination of sweetness and heat. Seafood lovers will also want to try the Salmon Roll, featuring cucumber, Peruvian ají panca sauce, furikake, masago, pickled fresno peppers, and micro cilantro.
The menu continues with an Aguachile Roll built around marinated shrimp, aguachile verde, red onion, and cilantro, while the Latin Nigiri Trio offers a tasting of salmon, hamachi, and tuna paired with the chef’s special sauce. Each dish reflects the balance of fresh ingredients and layered flavors that have made Nikkei cuisine increasingly popular around the world.
The new Thursday night experience arrives just in time for summer and coincides with another seasonal promotion at Corteza. Throughout soccer season, the restaurant is introducing a special Summer of Soccer menu available during matches. Designed for sharing while watching the game, the menu features elevated bar fare including Peruvian-inspired BBQ shrimp and Spanish chicken croquettes accented with saffron aioli.
To complement the food, guests can choose from a lineup of cocktails including a Tokyo Highball, a French Garden Spritz, and a Marrakech Market mint tea cocktail, among other specialty drinks.
Located within Sendero, the Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles’ expansive dining destination, Corteza is one of downtown’s more distinctive culinary experiences.
