This week President Obama announced plans to re-establish diplomatic relations between Cuba and the US after 50 years of the “silent treatment” by re-opening the US embassy in Havana. “We will end an outdated approach that for decades has failed to advance our interests and instead we will begin to normalize relations between our two countries,” spoke Obama at a press conference on Wednesday. Luxury Hotels in Cuba to be Renovated by Melia Hotels International

Spanish Meliá Hotels International chain has announced that it plans to renovate properties in Cuba, to bring them up to date with new luxury touches.

The Spanish company will continue to focus on the Caribbean island, with the objective of enhancing the luxury product to place its hotels in a better position among the lead agencies in this market, among other projects. The Cuba Division of the hotel chain had a meeting in which Gabriel Garcia, Meliá Cuba's commercial director, described in detail some of these innovations.
