Oct 6, 2015 | Contributor: Mila Pantovich The current sales record for a work by Amedeo Modigliani is $70.7 million, but Christie’s is hoping to smash that at The Artist’s Muse: A Curate Evening Sale of 20th Century Art on November 9. The specific work that is expected to do the trick is Nu couché (Reclining Nude), which was painted in 1917-18 and is estimated to fetch at least $100M at the New York auction.
“This is quite simply one of the most important paintings I have handled in my long career at Christie’s,” says Jussi Pylkkänen, Christie’s Global President and Chief Auctioneer. “There are a very small number of masterpieces that we dream of handling: this magnificent Modigliani has always been one of them.” ... Oct 9, 2014 | Contributor: JustLuxe Team Italy has, without a doubt, some of the richest and most thought-provoking artwork. With Leonardo da Vinci, Donatello and Michelangelo paving the ground for centuries of beautiful artwork, it makes perfect sense that we line our homes with works inspired and created by Italians. Four mediums stand out above the rest when it comes to Italian art: paintings, sculpture, furniture and architecture. While renovating your home to reflect Italian architecture can be rather intensive, incorporating the other three is pretty easy. For those of you in and around New York City, the search is even easier. ... Read More |

Apr 19, 2013 | Contributor: Mila Pantovich As one of the most revered artists in history, it would be a pretty big deal if a new painting was discovered to have been the work of Vincent Van Gogh. The possibility of just that is the focal point of the Nevada Museum of Art's newest exhibition, A Real Van Gogh? An Unsolved Art World Mystery (which will be on view from April 13 through August 15, 2013).... Read More |
Feb 19, 2013 | Contributor: Tina Stewart Family often plays a part in life's most meaningful moments, with common bonds and experiences reinforcing love shared. These dynamics might play a hand in the complexity of the art pieces produced by Slade Project. The artistic team is comprised of a mother and her two sons, bringing their talents together to collaborate on mixed-media imagery that commemorates or tells the “story” of an individual(s), through photos and memorabilia. Although a fine art collection is always prized, creating some personal pieces for a home and for future generations can be more valuable than any Monet.... Read More |

Jan 9, 2013 | Contributor: Mila Pantovich | 1 Comment Street art has officially entered the world of fine art, regardless of your opinion on the matter. When once it may have been thought of as mere graffiti, street art has found a place within art galleries, museums, and on the walls of art collectors and aficionados. From the ever-elusive Banksy to the iconic work of the late Jean-Michel Basquiat, street artists and their work have been fetching top dollar prices at famed auction houses for years, breaking down the hazy line between high and low art. Hopefully, other relevant and talented street artists, like Blu, JR, Swoon, Vhils, Space Invader, and Roa, will be seeing some top dollar action soon. In the meantime, here are some of the most expensive sales seen yet!... Read More |

Oct 26, 2012 | Contributor: Mila Pantovich Edvard Munch's "The Scream" 1895 is one of the world's most infamous works of art, picturing a man's pained reaction to witnessing a scream resonate throughout nature, his friends carrying on oblivious to his cries. The pastel work is one of four versions that Munch created, the other three painted, and was sold at a Sotheby's auction back in May for $119.9 million. Whoever bought the drawing knows how badly the public would like to see it in person for themselves so it is now on view at New York's Museum of Modern Art.... Read More |
