If your favorite fine spirits have become bored with just plain old "rocks," then the Ice Drop can help step it up a bit. The ingeniously shaped ice drop is as fun to use as it is to enjoy. A great conversation piece for your next libation-filled gathering, the Ice Drop Maker is an elegant and simple ice press designed to take large blocks of ice and melt and shape them into perfect ice spheres, or "ice drops."... Manly Cocktail Recipes for the Summer

Jun 2, 2011  |   Contributor: Carly Zinderman

While nothing hits the spot better than a cold brewski on a hot summer's day, nothing says refined refreshment like a cocktail. They don't all come in some froofy glass with a pink hue; plenty of cocktails feature man's favorite liquor, whether its tequila, scotch or gin. These fancy cocktail recipes could even start a new Father's Day tradition (or at least help get some warm fuzzy feelings going).... Read More

Auchentoshan 1998 Vintage Sherry Cask

May 19, 2011  |   Contributor: Ray Pearson

The cachet of this vintage Auchentoshan (ock-un-tosh-un) lies in the influence of its aging in fino sherry barrels, made of European oak. Fino ("refined" in Spanish) sherry is considered the freshest, driest and lightest of traditional sherries - a far cry from the heavier, more robust oloroso sherry influences found in many other single malts.... Rare and Unique Whiskies Discovered on the Road

Oct 5, 2010  |   Contributor: Ray Pearson  |  1 Comment

Rare Spirits: Whiskey research trips, contrary to the first images conjured up in one’s mind, are serious undertakings. I wanted to talk with a variety of professionals in the retail end of the whisky business to learn what unusual whiskies they elevated to the top of their personal lists. The criteria for the quest included taste, rarity, uniqueness, and a personal affinity, but not necessarily age or cost. As it turned out, the whiskies listed in this article range from “NAS” – no age statement, but usually assumed to be around 10 years, to 48 years, with prices from under $100 to thousands.... Drum roll, please (yes, I’m going to ignore reason, logic, and common sense and actually name a “best”, but first a little background.... Read More
