Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Brown’s Hotel (which is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year) was considered on the cutting edge when it opened in 1837 because it was connected to London’s rail line. It was also where Alexander Graham Bell made the U.K.’s first phone call.
