Fans of Pop-up Art need to take a trip to Chicago this summer, as the Chicago Loop Alliance team up with Zipcar to create a series of artistic events featuring cars. Galleries will be open throughout the season where artists can be seen at work creating inspired art modeled after cars donated from the Zipcar fleet. Pop-art galleries are slated to take place at the Wells Street Art Festival, the Pride Parade, Pitchfork Music Festival and the Taste of Lincoln Avenue.
The Chicago unit of Zipcar, a global carsharing business that is a subsidiary of the Avis Budget Group (NASDAQ: CAR), is teaming up this summer with the not-for-profit Chicago Loop Alliance to create pop-up art out of cars. Zipcars to be specific.
The Loop Alliance's five-year-old Pop-Up Art Loop program has in the past taken vacant storefront space in the central Loop business district and transformed the spaces into temporary art galleries open to the public.
The year the pop-up galleries will be further afield and will be car-focused. Among the local events where there will be pop-up galleries this summer are the Wells Street Art Festival, the Pride Parade, Pitchfork Music Festival and the Taste of Lincoln Avenue.
