Today marks the middle of summer, which means our days of lounging poolside are numbered. And if you’re like us, you’re not quite ready to give up your bronzed glow just yet. Since a hotel pool can be the difference between a good vacation and a great one, we searched out the best properties across the US that offer more than just a place to cool off. Here are 15 of the nation’s best, most impressive and architecturally-stunning watering holes that have us hoping for an Indian summer:

The Joule Hotel — Dallas, Texas |

You only need to see this glass-fronted pool to know it’s one of the best. It was designed by Adam D. Tihany and is half extended past the hotel’s structure, so you feel like you’re swimming among the clouds.

Amangani Resort — Jackson Hole, Wyoming |

Wyoming is already beautiful, so most of the work is already done here. And Amangani's 100-foot, heated pool makes sure to give its guests a front row seat to all of its natural exquisiteness. But seriously, that view!

Enchantment Resort — Sedona, Arizona |

With the backdrop of the Red Rocks, you're pretty much guaranteeing your pool makes it to the top of similar Best Of lists. The expansive deck at Enchantment Resort offers plenty of lounge chairs and cushioned seating, so fighting for an open spot isn't a daunting task.

Grand Wailea — Maui, Hawaii |

Grand Wailea's pool features a water slide, rapids, caves, a water elevator and rope swing at its 5,700-square-foot complex. Pretty fantastic, if you ask us. Plus there are 10 connecting pools, so you really have no reason to not go bathing suit shopping before your trip.

The Raleigh — Miami Beach, Florida |

Raleigh Hotel's iconic pool has starred in television, Esther Williams’ films and in a number of magazine spreads. From up above, you will notice it also has a unique shape, which is part of its appeal. It’s also the location for many swanky Miami Beach parties.

Amangiri — Canyon Point, Utah |

The pool here is carved around a 165-year-old, 80-foot-high natural stone bluff, seamlessly blending into its surroundings. Amangiri rests in a secluded canyon, so at night, you get the advantage of being able to swim under millions of stars. Swoon.

Andaz — San Diego, California |

There is no shortage of sunny days in San Diego, and the Andaz’s rooftop pool takes advantage of the city’s great weather. From up above, you’ll get panoramic views of SD and at night, the pool area transforms into a trendy cocktail lounge. There are also fire pits in case it gets a little chilly.

Four Seasons Hualalai — Kailua-Kona, Hawaii |

The hotel has seven pools and the King’s Pond is a fresh ocean water one that is home to 3,500 tropical fish. Although it’s more for snorkeling and participating in activities than swimming, it is one of the coolest pools around. If you want a swimming pool, the adults-only Palm Grove Pool has an infinity edge that makes you feel like you’re actually in the ocean.

Delano — South Beach, Florida |

Located in the heart of South Beach, The Delano’s pool is more like a "Water Salon," with its separate areas devoted to floating and meditating, and soothing underwater music. You can also rent a poolside cabana that comes with your own personal butler.

Turnberry Isle Resort — Aventura, Florida |

The Laguna Pool is a water park with its 800-linear-foot lazy river, waterfalls and 35-foot water slide. Palm trees line the deck and pod-like lounge chairs add to the tropical feel of the destination.

The London — West Hollywood, California |

Southern California-cool meets British-elegance here. There’s an air of exclusivity at The London's pool, as it is only open to hotel guests (unless you reserve a cabana). You’ll find panoramic views of LA, the Getty Center and Beverly Hills from this rooftop garden retreat.

Four Seasons — Seattle, Washington |

Seattle may not top the list for best places to get a tan, but its outdoor pool is still one of our favorites. The infinity edge makes you feel like you’re floating in the waters of Elliott Bay. It’s also a great place to sit back and watch the sunset while sipping on fresh fruit sorbets.

The Canyon Suites at the Phoenician — Scottsdale, Arizona |

The private pool here is grand with mother-of-pearl tile and the base of Camelback Mountain as its backdrop. The cabanas line the pool with bright yellow curtains and décor while offering guests complimentary Wi-Fi inside. There’s also a nearby Koi pond to really put you in a Zen-mood.

The Peninsula Beverly Hills — Los Angeles, California |

Although this was once a hotel-guests only pool, it is now open to the public. As California’s only AAA Five Diamond and Forbes five-star resort, it plays hosts to many celebs who lounge poolside in cabanas all year long (you can also expect high-end swimsuits on guests). From its rooftop location, you can view out onto downtown LA.

Glenwood Hot Springs — Glenwood Springs, Colorado |

Glenwood’s pool is filled with 3.5 gallons of hot spring, mineral-rich water. It’s basically like one gigantic hot tub, as it is kept at around 90 degrees year-round. This is one of the best wintertime destination pools.
