Expect charming pavilions, serene lakes, and vibrant flower gardens, all illuminated by thousands of twinkling lights at night. Tivoli transforms with the seasons, making every visit unique. In the Spring & Summer, Tivoli is bursting with flowers, concerts, and vibrant energy, the park then turns into a spooky wonderland with pumpkins, eerie decorations, and themed rides for Halloween, and rounds out the calendar year around Christmas with a winter wonderland, complete with festive markets, glittering lights, and a magical holiday atmosphere straight out of a snow globe. Nestled right next to the Nimb Hotel, Tivoli is a must-visit for travelers of all ages. The hotel’s concierge can arrange for a backstage tour of the gardens, with access to feeding the incredible variety of fishes in their aquarium (this was a fan fav for my children!), top restaurant reservations within the amusement park and tickets to live concerts and cultural events.

If the weather is nice, opt for an uncovered boat for the best views or a sunset or evening tour offers a magical perspective of the city lights. Nyhavn & The Canals are quintessential Copenhagen experiences that blend history, beauty, and relaxation. Whether you're enjoying ice cream or a cocktail at a charming café by the water, snapping photos of the vibrant facades, or gliding through the canals on a boat tour, this area perfectly captures the soul of the city.

Many of Copenhagen’s top attractions – Nyhavn, The Little Mermaid statue, The Royal Palace (seeing the changing of the guards march throughout the city was a core memory for our family!), and the Tivoli Gardens – are easily accessible by bike. Copenhagen is one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world, with a well-designed infrastructure that makes cycling safe, easy, and enjoyable. In fact, most of the city’s population commutes by bike daily, and visitors quickly discover that two wheels are the best way to see the city like a local (our wheels consisted of a double baby stroller, which was also very easy to get around with). 

Hygge & Hospitality: The Danish concept of hygge – a feeling of coziness and contentment – is alive in every candlelit cafe, warm conversation, and inviting space throughout the city. Another highlight from our time in this cozy city was a memorable meal at Vækst, a plant-filled eatery, embracing hygge with natural light, hanging greenery, and a greenhouse-like setting, serving fresh, modern Nordic cuisine. Despite its refined dishes, Vækst maintains a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, making it perfect for an intimate dinner (where I happened to celebrate my birthday!) or a casual yet elegant meal. Whether it’s a warm dining experience at a local bistro or a glistening evening at Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen’s hospitality scene revolves around fostering connection and warmth.
