30 miles southeast of Las Vegas
Approximately 30 minutes from the Strip, the Hoover Dam stands as a towering testament to American engineering. Built during the depression, the Hoover Dam tames the mighty Colorado River.
The dam prevents floods, provides irrigation water, and produces hydro-electric power. There are two lanes of traffic that cross the top of the dam, as well as the Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge that provides an aerial view of the bridge and Lake Mead.
