Last night, celebrity chef Mario Batali finally opened the doors to his long-awaited restaurant Babbo Pizzeria e Enoteca. Co-owned by restaurateur Joe Bastianich, Batali tweeted about a new restaurant opening “very soon” almost two and a half years ago. Since then, Bostonians have been dying for a taste of the chef’s home-style cooking. Zagat even named it one of the 30 Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings of Spring 2015.

The menu consists of a variety of pizzas and Italian dishes including goat cheese with pistachios, red onion, and truffle honey; octopus with shishito peppers and citrus; and skirt steak with charred onions and pastas. Batali’s famous gelato and a large selection of Italian wines will also be served. “This is a place for just about everyone,” Batali told the Boston Globe. “It’s simple and not that expensive. It’s as much about the food as it is about the wine.” Plates will run from around $5 for a vegetable plate to $35 for the chef’s selection of grilled meats.

Located on Fan Pier in South Boston, the 8,700-square-foot-restaurant is on the ground floor and offers a beautiful waterfront setting. The eatery was also built to be a Certified Green Restaurant which includes environmental efforts such as water reduction and recycling, sustainable furnishings and building materials, energy efficiency, sustainable food, and more.

Babbo Pizzeria e Enoteca is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to midnight. Fridays and Saturdays the bar will remain open until 1 a.m.
