If you’re looking to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to the most popular spots in Singapore you may want to note the Dempsey area of Tanglin Village. Last month, COMO Lifestyle, a subsidiary of Club 21, won a bid to develop two blocks of the upcoming neighborhood. The site is popularly known as a casual weekend destination, but COMO Lifestyle hopes to make it more on-trend. There are discussions of building a Dover Street Market fashion concept store, a Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant and bar, and an outlet of local restaurant chain Candlenut by Chef Malcolm Lee.
In recent years Dempsey has added on a number of restaurants, hotspots and developments while maintaining its family-friendly vibe. Popular dining hubs include Huber’s Butchery, a crowd pleaser that offers over 150 varieties of cheese, and La Ventana, a Spanish restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Charles Gaig. Nearby there’s a spa and beauty emporium, art galleries, dance studios, and a community clubhouse. The area is also filled with parks, walking trails and playgrounds.
COMO Lifestyle notes that the new development will complement the town’s current lifestyle and will only serve to enhance it with upscale retailers, lounges and restaurants. The Singapore Land Authority and the Singapore Tourism Board hope that it will strengthen Tanglin Village’s reputation as a lifestyle destination.
