Built to accommodate 12 guests, the cozy Chalet Maurice in the Swiss Alps is a beautifully designed modern home with a warm mountain lodge feel. Located in the exclusive Petit Village area of Zermatt, the villa is accessed through the mountain on a private funicular railway (for that extra private touch). Designed by architect Magali De Tscharner, the free standing property, offers contemporary furnishings paired with natural fabrics and local materials in palates of charcoal, grey, cream and white.
It also boasts views of the soaring Matterhorn along with an open-plan living area and dining room filled with tons of natural light. Six bedrooms with king sized beds are available, all with en-suite bathrooms and the master suite comes with an open fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows and sits on the whole top floor. Additional amenities and activities include a washer/dryer, home theater, a whirlpool spa, BBQ grill, steam room and massage room. Rates begin at $4,638 per night with the inclusion of two managers, a cook and housekeeper. The villa can also be fully stocked for an additional cost.
