To put it out bluntly, in a busy and tiring world where sleep is a necessity of big value, decorating the bedroom is a must!

There are many ways to decorate your bedroom. One of the most helpful tips is to have a theme to stick to, and then, break your own rules once in a while to make your design dynamic. Also, you can use a bedframe. There are different bedframes out there that you can choose from. You can also use a wallpaper to decorate the walls, or, if you have good artistic skills, you can paint them.

In decorating your bedroom, there is an item you should never miss out. They keep you warm and comfy all throughout your sleep. They are also relaxing to the eyes. Introducing the bedspreads!

Bedspreads are a bed covering. However, don’t get confused with quilts, bedspreads, and comforters. Although they are all bed coverings, bedspreads are larger than the other two. Bedspreads are created in such a way it reaches, or at least almost touches, the floor. You usually see them being used in hotel rooms. They are relatively thinner than the other two kinds of bed covering.

There are three types of bedspreads you can choose from, depending on your needs:

1. Chenille

Chenille bedspreads came from Dalton, Georgia, and became popular in the late 1800s. The chenille bedspread has a unique stitch that makes the tufted confections. Its design feature an intricate geometric or flowery pattern. Chenille bedspreads originally came with a pale main color, and were made of cotton.

Today, chenille bedspreads are commonly made of polyester, but you can still find those made of cotton in many stores.

2. Quilted

Quilted bedspreads use a single, or multiple fabric underneath the stitched patterns. These stitches may actually help keep the fabric layers underneath together. These bedspreads are larger than your regular quilts.

3. Reversible

Reversible bedspreads use high quality fabric on both sides to instantly change the look of your bedroom in just a flip. There are reversible bedspreads out there which are quilted in one or both sides, if you want. There are those with little or even no quilting at all. You really have a wide variety to choose from.

If you have finally decided to purchase a bedspread for yourself or your family, let us give you some tips first.

Tip #1: Design

As mentioned previously, you should match the design of your bedspread to a certain theme. You can opt for minimal designs if you would like to keep it simple. Or, you can make the bed the center piece of the bedroom by choosing a more intricate design.

Make sure the stitch or the design matches with that of the pillows and other bed accessories.

Tip #2: Color

You can always stick with white because it sort of relaxes the eyes but you should know that there are other relaxing colors out there like green and blue. Never choose red, unless of course you want to display passion which is required in certain occasions like the first wedding night.

Bright colors match the children’s beds while palettes look more mature.

Tip #3: Fabric

Satin and silk bedspreads give your room an elegant and classy look. Chenille bedspreads, on the other hand, display a classic look that always make you feel like home. There are more fabrics you can choose from.

These and more choices awaits you on how to decorate your bedroom for your sleeping pleasure. You don’t need to be a royalty to experience life’s little pleasure. So, indulge.
