Kim Kardashian Finally Lands the Coveted Cover of Vogue

Well, hell has officially frozen over—that or Anna Wintour finally caved. After being hounded persuaded by Kanye West, it looks like Wintour conceded and put Kim Kardashian on the cover of Vogue magazine. Kardashian has been after that coveted spot for years, hoping for that glorious stamp of approval from the Bible of fashion. And she got it—sort of. She may be on the cover, but unfortunately for Kardashian, it looks like it was a package deal with her beau. And even if you’re a fan of hers, you have to admit it—this whole situation seems pretty ridiculous.

Sure, we’re being a little snobbish and maybe just a touch pretentious, but oh-my-gosh, Kim what did you do to deserve a Vogue cover? Snapping selfies in tight miniskirts doesn’t really count as modeling, and there are so many people that really earned that cover. Wintour defends her decision in the editor's letter portion of the magazine saying, "part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it. I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?)." Of course, chances are just as good that Wintour popped the couple on the cover just to get Kanye off her back, but there had to be a better way than this—couldn’t we have just thrown her on Teen Vogue?

It seems fans are pretty pleased, especially about getting the couple stamped with the hashtag #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple (okay maybe, but seriously?), and can’t stop gabbing about what a great photo it is. We’ll admit the Lanvin dress Kardashian is sporting looks gorgeous, but frankly—that’s about it. Oh, and the title of their cover story? Their Fashionable Life and Surreal Times—they had to find some way to connect the reality star to fashion. Kardashian tweeted this morning saying “This is such a dream come true!!! Thank you @VogueMagazine for this cover! O M GGGGGG!!! I can't even breath [sic]!” Enjoy it while it lasts—chances are good this will be your one and only Vogue cover—unless of course there's a pending contract with NEXT models we aren't yet aware of....
