Celebrities Who Ditched the Cars and Bought Private Jets

donald trump Luxury cars are a pretty good way to make a statement if you're a high-powered celebrity, but some famous faces find that staying on land just isn't impressive enough and have therefore taken to the skies in their own private jets. I'm sure they also have their fair share of fancy cars but nothing quite beats air travel, especially when it comes to freeway traffic. We all know that people like Donald Trump own private jets but what about your other favorite names? According to Madam Noire, Tom Cruise took his role in Top Gun pretty seriously and has bought himself various planes through the years, including a P-51 Mustang. Oprah has a Bombardier Global Express jet that she apparently describes as being one of her most prized possessions. When you have to do as many public appearances as she does, I'm not surprised. Clint Eastwood has been a licensed pilot for over 30 years, and has said that one of his favorite hobbies is flying helicopters, which is a little disconcerting considering the man is 82-years-old. Harrison Ford is not only a flier but has actually saved people while flying. Back in 2000, the actor rescued an ill hiker in Idaho while cruising along in his helicopter, proving that his Indiana Jones tendencies are strong within him.

Air Pacific Changes Name and Revamps Their Look

air pacific changes name to fiji In case you were wondering what happened to Air Pacific, they have completely revamped their brand with the help of their new name, Fiji Airways. According to Airline Reporter, the company had their highest revenue yet during 2011/2012, bringing in $362.4 million, which allows them to make some pretty costly changes starting in 2013, like new planes and in-flight entertainment. Changing the name to Fiji Airways isn't really that landmark since the company went by that name from 1951 to 1970, before they switched to Air Pacific. The change does fit though with their plans to upgrade the company, especially considering the three brand new Airbus A330 aircraft they're adding to their fleet in 2013. The three planes, which will include the airline's new livery and replace the Boeing 747-400's of Air Pacific, will have staggered deliveries, with one arriving in March, one in May, and the last in November. The new planes will feature a Panasonic eX2 IFEC in-flight entertainment option, as well as economy seats that recline 7.5-inches and business class bed lengths of 76-inches.
