For those still thinking water is water, VOSS begs to differ. Topping the list of favorite waters in a Hotel Check-In reader poll, VOSS water proves that there really is something in the water.

Beating out numerous other bottled brands of water and even "free" water, VOSS now has big bragging rights over the competition.

USA Today reports that in a Hotel Check-In reader poll with 1,009 votes yielded the following results, when asked, "What brand of bottled water do you hope to find in your hotel?"

  • 36% VOSS
  • 31% Any water that's free
  • 15% Fiji
  • 6% Evian
  • 4% Dasani
  • 4% Other
  • 2% San Pellegrino
  • 1% Vitamin Water

While VOSS takes a lot of hits for being on the cutting edge of frou-frou (it was the butt of all kinds of jokes in the Adam Sandler film Grown-Ups), the results of the survey show that the cylindrical glass bottle is worth paying for.

So what makes VOSS better than free water? For some, it may be the protected water source in Southern Norway, which is naturally free of sodium and low in minerals. Others may enjoy drinking knowing that The VOSS Foundation has created numerous water access points for households in rural Africa and every bottle purchased helps to enhance the lives of more than 100,000 people.

VOSS is available at many luxury hotels including Four Seasons, W Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, The Soho House and more. It is also sold in restaurants, hotels and select gourmet retail accounts including Whole Foods and Dean and Deluca. While VOSS is clearly the water for discerning palates, you still have to decide between Still and Lightly Sparkling in distinctive 100 percent recyclable glass bottles.
