Chef Jean-Georges & Eden Rock Team Up to Elevate St. Barth's Culinary Scene

Eden Rock recently announced a partnership with world-renowned Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten to provide an unprecedented culinary experience in the Caribbean. Partnering with Executive Chef Anne-Cécile Degenne, the new menus will be unveiled at the two Eden Rock Restaurants, On the Rocks and Sand Bar, for the 2011/2012 season.

Featuring both Asian and French cooking technique with international influence, "Eden Rock-St. Barth's with Jean-Georges" is the first partnership of its kind on the island. Well-balanced meals meet organic and locally produced foods reinventing the menus for the islands luxury clientele.

Noted for his use of exotic and aromatic flavors from his travels and experiences in the East, Jean-Georges brings his mastery of featuring intense flavors alongside satisfying textures through culinary technique that abandons the traditional uses of meat stocks and flavor-covering sauces.

"The partnership between Eden Rock–St. Barth's, a world-class destination, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, a culinary force to be reckoned with, is truly a match made in foodie heaven. We are confident that our guests will be excited and inspired by the elevated gastronomic experience," said David Matthews, owner of Eden Rock-St. Barth's.

Hurricanes themselves cannot stop the joined forces as they team up offering unique and flavorful fare at both On the Rocks (above), a location overlooking the bay with vibrant cuisine such as local lobster with toasted garlic drawn butter and seared shrimp with egg noodles in spicy herbal soup; and Sand Bar (below), providing lunch dishes inspired by Jean-Georges' ABC Kitchen concept.

Menu items such as whole-wheat pizzas topped with black truffle oil and frontina or smoked salmon and roasted carrot salad with avocado and citrus dressing can be found nowhere else on the island, breaking ground on new and exciting offerings through the exclusive Eden Rock.

Executive Chef Degenne trained in NYC with Chef Vongerichten to master the new repertoire that will keep the culinary buzz alive in the Caribbean. The opening party will be during Thanksgiving and St. Barth's has a lot to be thankful for with the pairing of this dynamic duo.
