After rumors of off-the-cuff remarks, it has been officially announced that head designer John Galliano has been fired from Dior.

Rumors of Galliano making anti-Semitic remarks to a couple in a restaurant were later compounded when a video of the famed fashion designer surfaced, showcasing his proclamation, "I love Hitler."

Sidney Toledano, Dior's president and CEO, stated: "I condemn most firmly the statements made by John Galliano which are a total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the House of Christian Dior."

Before the video surfaced, fashion insiders stayed mum on the subject, but after the release of the video many have begun taking sides. Sex & the City fashion designer Patricia Field defended Galliano, while Natalie Portman has reacted against him.

The pregnant actress and current face of Christian Dior Parfums released a statement, saying, "I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano's comments that surfaced today...In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful."

It is shocking that someone who could create such beauty could make such ugly statements and only time will tell what will become of Galliano's fashionable genius.
