Madrid's annual 2nd of May Festival commemorates the 1808 uprising of Madrid inhabitants against French domination. Music bands bring pomp and ceremony to the city's parks and squares on the day of this historical anniversary.

Venues across the Madrid province join in the celebrations - hosting concerts, plays, dance shows, special restaurant menus and film screenings on the weeks preceding and following the 2nd of May.
