Sightseeing in Athens

Posted: Aug. 16th, 2012  |  By Michael Pearse

Having a huge collection of historic sites makes Athens one of the most intriguing locations in the world to spend a vacation. With massively well-known locations like the Temple of Hephaestus, the Parthenon, Acropolis and the Erechtheion, there is no shortage of significant archaic structures for sightseers to visit.

Nevertheless, Athens has aged well over its long history of important contributions to the Western world. Like any good city worthy of visiting, this Grecian city provides top-tier entertainment venues, impressive museums and some amazing tour opportunities. While many of these tours are based around the historic sites found all around the city, there are still some rather interesting locations that blend the aesthetics of classic Greek architecture and modernistic minimalism.

Places like Technopolis, the Parliament Building and the Athens Planetarium incorporate these styles beautifully and are just as worthy of visiting as any of the ancient structures, even if they are not as well known.

All in all, Athens is one of the best cities in the world to go sightseeing in and easily rivals locations like Rome, New York and Tokyo in the quality of its attractions.
