When the weather outside is frightful, comfort food is oh so delightful. A plate full of noodles and meatballs is just what you need after a day spent enjoying the crisp air of the season. Amp up the flavor of your average meatball by mixing it with a Merlot sauce that brings a depth to your dish unlike any other!
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of meatballs (can be frozen or homemade)
- 1/2 cup of sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 cup of sliced onions
- 1 cup of Cavit Merlot
- 1/2 cup of water
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon of butter
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a shallow baking sheet on a rack to warm.
- Evenly space all meatballs on the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned.
- While meatballs are cooking, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add mushrooms and onions and sauté until onions are translucent. Add the Merlot, water, honey and cream to the pan.
- Once all ingredients have been properly mixed, reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pan and allow to simmer for approximately 30 minutes. (You can remove the meatballs and set aside while your sauce finishes.)
- Remove the cover from the pan and add the meatballs.
- Turn up the head to reduce the sauce by half.
- Add salt, pepper, or more wine to taste.
- Enjoy!
