There is simply nothing else like it at Lake Tahoe. Edgewood Tahoe Resort offers a sweeping, theatrical panorama of the lake, stretching north like a perfectly art-directed movie set. This spectacular resort does not merely occupy the waterfront; it commands it.
A Stage Without Equal
The golf pros and celebrities who migrate annually to Lake Tahoe’s South Shore for the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship know that Edgewood Tahoe Resort is not only a great place to hit the links, it is, without rival, the most spectacular place to stay on the lake. For five days each summer, the resort’s luxury guest rooms and suites become home to sports stars, recording artists, and actors, each of whom savors the same posh amenities and the same staggering lake views as the guests who are fortunate enough to stay at any other time of year. A beachfront lounge chair, a sunset cocktail, morning coffee by a blazing fire pit: a stay here makes every guest feel like the VIP they are.
And yet what is perhaps most remarkable about Edgewood Tahoe is not any single amenity, but the sheer audacity of its location. Stand anywhere along the great lawn or the Bistro Terrace and you face north across the full luminous breadth of North America’s largest alpine lake, the Sierra Nevada rising in every direction like a painted scrim.

Authenticity and Luxury in Equal Measure
Edgewood’s magic is found in its rare fusion of authenticity and luxury. A $100 million-plus project long in the making, the sustainably designed mountain lodge is seminal for Lake Tahoe’s South Shore and stands as the centerpiece of the area’s renaissance. Silver LEED certified and a model of sustainability, the resort treads lightly on its 235-acre lakefront parcel while delivering service worthy of its Preferred Hotels & Resorts Legend Collection affiliation, and, since 2024, its Michelin One Key designation. The tone is set from the moment of arrival, where guests are greeted not only with a glass of prosecco but with 38-foot, floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the lake like a painting. The chalet-like Great Room features limestone walls and a dramatic vaulted ceiling, with cozy seating clusters gathering around a mammoth fireplace.

The Art of the Daily Ritual
Edgewood has mastered the art of the daily ritual, those small, recurring pleasures that accumulate into a stay one does not easily forget. Each evening, guests are invited to the s’mores bar, where not one but three types of chocolate are presented alongside the classic makings of the campfire treat. It is a deceptively democratic pleasure: one evening you may find yourself roasting marshmallows shoulder-to-shoulder with an NBA MVP. That, as guests who return season after season will attest, is simply part of the Edgewood magic.
Early risers are met by the Après Sleep Cart, stocked with complimentary teas and juices. Morning yoga on the great lawn is not to be missed; with its spectacular backdrop, it is among the most memorable wellness experiences at any resort. Wednesday evenings bring Wine Wednesdays, when the sommelier selects a varietal and pours with generosity. And The Bistro Terrace Bar is ready for the season – offering elevated pours of the best whiskeys, best enjoyed beside the constellation of fire pits that glow day and night.

The Spa: A Gracious Retreat
At 8,500 square feet, Spa Edgewood is as spacious as it is gracious. It’s a genuine refuge. Treatments are administered by therapists who know their craft; my one session with a skilled masseuse proved not merely relaxing but genuinely therapeutic, addressing a stubborn pain with practiced expertise. (If I lived closer to the resort, I’d make this treatment part of my weekly routine.) The spa also distinguishes itself in a small way: its snack offerings go well beyond the usual cucumber water. Peanut M&Ms, Madeleine cookies, and a proper spread of teas make the relaxation lounge a place to bask before or after your treatment.

Four Eateries, One Standard
In every season, Edgewood satisfies with a choice of four distinct dining experiences. Brooks’ Bar + Deck, honored by Golf Digest as one of the “Best Golf Pubs” in the world, offers refined comfort food, crafted cocktails, and craft beers alongside stunning Sierra and lake views. The Bistro, located inside The Lodge, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in an indoor/outdoor setting overlooking the resort’s sparkling pool. The casual Coffee Bar, just off the lobby, is stocked with to-go items including housemade pastries.
The Edge: Reborn
The jewel of Edgewood’s dining scene has been reborn. The newly reimagined Edge is a tour de force of fine dining: elevated gourmet cuisine, an exceptional wine program, and floor-to-ceiling windows. But the first thing that stops guests in their tracks is what awaits just outside the entrance — a new circular bar whose backlit bottles glow beneath the surface like illuminated gems.

The Villa Suites: A Resort Within a Resort
For those who wish to spread out, Edgewood has introduced its most significant accommodation evolution yet: the Villa Suites. Ten new villas — available in two, three, four, and five-bedroom configurations ranging from 1,875 to 2,938 square feet — sit adjacent to the main lodge and front the resort’s eighth and ninth fairways. Each villa comes fully equipped for genuine residential living — kitchenettes, or complete kitchens, private heated patios with personal jacuzzis, and individual fire pits.
It is no coincidence that the Villa Suites have become the accommodation of choice for the athletes and celebrities who descend for the annual golf tournament. The scale, privacy, and home-away-from-home comfort the villas provide are precisely what those guests require: a place to retreat, decompress, and gather after a day in the public eye, without for a moment surrendering the Edgewood experience.

Acclaim
Silver LEED certified. Forbes Four-Star. Michelin One Key. Preferred Hotels & Resorts Legend Collection. Edgewood Tahoe has earned every distinction. But the most honest measure of what it delivers is simpler than any rating. You stand on the great lawn at dusk, the fire pit warm at your back, the lake turning silver and rose in the dimming light, and you know that there is nowhere else on Earth quite like this.
