For generations, Lawry’s The Prime Rib has made an evening out of prime rib, polished service and the kind of tableside traditions that have largely disappeared from modern dining. But while the room and rituals remain timeless, Lawry’s is proving that a classic steakhouse can still have a few surprises up its sleeve.
This summer, those surprises arrive just in time for Dine LA, along with a collection of new menu additions that give longtime devotees a reason to return and newcomers a reason to discover the Beverly Hills landmark.
From August 14 through August 28, Lawry’s is participating in Dine LA with a three-course prix fixe menu for $75 that captures the restaurant’s signature experience without asking diners to navigate the entire menu.

The meal begins with the restaurant’s legendary Famous Original Spinning Bowl Salad, still one of the few tableside salad servings in town. It is followed by a broiled four-ounce cold-water lobster tail and thenLawry’s iconic California Cut of Roasted Prime Ribs of Beef, served with Yorkshire pudding and a choice of creamed spinach or creamed corn.
For those who believe more is more, the Dine LA menu can also be upgraded. Diners can opt for larger cuts of prime rib, Salmon Rockefeller with scampied shrimp, or Linz Heritage Reserve filet mignon or New York strip with garlic confit.

Lawry’s has introduced several new dishes that add a contemporary touch to its traditional steakhouse repertoire.
Among them are Oscietra Caviar Chips, topped with crème fraîche and chives, perfect with a martini before dinner or alongside a glass of champagne.
Then there is the new Prime Burger, made with beef ground in-house fresh each day. Availability is limited, making it something of a daily treasure hunt for burger devotees.
But the most extravagant new addition may be the tableside Baked Idaho Potato, which arrives loaded with Nueske’s bacon, traditional accompaniments and 30 grams of premium Oscietra caviar.
Lawry’s is also making its bar a destination in its own right with The Mini Meal, a $29 happy-hour trio served Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Mini Meal includes a mini cheeseburger, made with the restaurant’s freshly ground in-house beef; a crispy potato bite topped with crème fraîche and Astrea caviar; and Lawry’s signature full-size Meat & Potato Martini.

The traditional happy hour remains Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the bar and cocktail lounge.
Bar bites are $5 off, select draft beers are $7, and select wines and cocktails are $10.
There is also Wine Wednesday, when select bottles of wine are half price.
Lawry’s doesn’t need to reinvent itself. The spinning salad bowl, the silver carts, the prime rib and the Yorkshire pudding are part of Los Angeles dining history.
What is refreshing is seeing the restaurant add new experiences without sacrificing those traditions.
The Dine LA menu offers an accessible entry point into the Lawry’s experience, while the new caviar-topped dishes, in-house Prime Burger and tableside baked potato bring a more contemporary sense of indulgence. The Mini Meal adds a casual, social dimension to the bar.
The result is a Lawry’s that feels both familiar and newly energized.
And perhaps that’s the real luxury, walking into a restaurant steeped in history and discovering that, after all these years, there are still new things to order.
