Just over a year after the untimely death of British fashion photographer Corinne Day, who discovered Kate Moss in 1990, one of her most iconic images of the supermodel will be offered for sale at Bonhams in London as part of its Photographs Sale on November 17. The photo was taken for the February 1991 issue of The Face magazine, where Day’s first pictures of Moss appeared, for a feature called “Heaven is Real.” The photograph on offer is a rare vintage print and has attracted a pre-sale estimate of up to about $2,300.

Day was renowned for her original and unique fashion and documentary photography. In August 2010, after her death, Belinda White wrote in the London Telegraph that “Corinne Day opened the door for a whole new generation of photographers, designers, models and stylists who suddenly saw that the fashion industry didn’t have to be this exclusive club for the privileged and perfect.” A retrospective of Day’s work has also been unveiled n London recently at Gimpel Fils gallery in London, which is publishing a companion book as well.
