Luxury trains possess an air of mystique like no other form of travel, particularly in far-flung places. The Vietage by Anantara introduces a five-hour journey in a luxurious new railway carriage connecting Nha Trang and Qua Nhon in South-Central Vietnam.

Heralding a new age of slow and sustainable travel, the scenic journey meanders through the picturesque Vietnamese countryside, transporting guests with all the comforts of modern luxury. Twelve reservation-only seats — in private booths for two passengers each — enjoy stunning views through picture windows in a sleek modern interior inspired by Indochina. Guests can watch the mixology in action at a sit-up bar, or retreat to the dedicated spa area for 15-minute head and shoulder treatments on the go.

Building on the success of the Vietage’s other special carriage — which runs daily between Da Nang and Quy Nhon — the new carriage connects the coastal city of Nha Trang (served by Cam Ranh International Airport), offering timeless luxury travel experiences through South-Central Vietnam.

The journey begins along stretches of coastline fronting the East Sea, followed by an inland route into the mountainous province of Phú Yên, home to one of the country’s Champa people communities. Continuing its northerly track through the province’s capital city of Tuy Hòa, Vietnam’s longest wooden bridge at half a mile in length, Bình Thanh Bridge, is a gateway to other local landmarks. Passengers can catch glimpses of water buffalo, Vietnam’s national animal, as the train traverses through the rural landscape of lotus ponds, rice paddies and natural flora and fauna.

A lavish afternoon tea service includes poached Bai Dai Lobster, Da Lat Caviar, a cheese and charcuterie platter, and a tea tower featuring finger sandwiches, pastries, cakes and traditional scones with all the trimmings. A vegan menu is also available, and caviar fans can purchase extra portions on board.

Refreshments come in the form of a distinctive tea selection from the Vietnamese tea brand Epicurean Sao, ethically sourced local coffee from La Folliet, plus free-flowing wines, cocktails, beers, mocktails and soft drinks. An à la carte menu features premium wines and champagnes for pre-order.

Daily return journeys and one-way reservations are offered. Guests traveling from Nha Trang to Quy Nhon can enjoy accommodations at the luxurious Anantara Quy Nhon Villas beachside retreat. For the ultimate Vietnam itinerary, board The Vietage by Anantara running from Quy Nhon to Da Nang and visit the charming ancient town of Hoi An with a stay at Anantara Hoi An Resort.
