Adding personal touches to your home really makes it feel like, well, home! This easy wine bottle craft is a simple, inexpensive way to add a little pizzazz to your kitchen while showing off your crafty side.

Materials:

  • 1 empty wine bottle
  • Glass etching cream (can be found at most craft stores)
  • Paint brush
  • Bottle pour top (similar to what you would use for an olive oil bottle)
  • Stencil
  • Tape
  • Dish soap

Directions:

  1. Grab an empty wine bottle and rinse it thoroughly.
  2. Take your stencil (you can find these online, in craft stores, or you can make your own if you happen to have a Cricut machine) and place it where you would like the etching to go on the bottle. Any space on the bottle that is not covered by the stencil will be etched. Use tape to hold down the edges of the stencil if there is space around the edges.
  3. Once the stencil is pressed down or taped down properly, apply the etching cream on top of the stencil.
  4. Apply a thick glob of etching cream and then wait 5 minutes to allow it to settle into the stencil shape, before smoothing out the cream with the paintbrush.
  5. Leave the cream on the stencil for at least 30 minutes (though waiting longer isn’t an issue either.)
  6. Wash the etching cream off the bottle with cool water.
  7. Once the etching cream has all been removed, remove the stencil.
  8. Gently was the bottle with soapy water to remove additional residue.
  9. Fill the bottle with dish soap, pop on the pour top, and enjoy!
