Maui's newest oceanfront wellness center The Spa at Royal Lahaina, is located at the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows. This beloved property is one of Maui’s first oceanfront resorts. Built in the 1960s, this property was named 'Royal Lahaina' to honor the sun-kissed golden sand beaches, tropical green gardens and a vibrant, clear blue ocean setting. Hawaiian royalty enjoyed visiting this area of the island for rest, sport, and ceremonies.
Recently I met the General Manager of the resort, Nicholas Kuhns. He was instrumental in refreshing the spa space worthy of royalty. "This space used to be the administrative offices," said Kuhns. "With these magnificent views, I reimagined the space for guests to enjoy instead."
Kuhns is a thoughtful GM and is loved by his staff. Throughout a tour of the resort, employees greeted him with a warm Aloha smile. "The opening of The Spa at Royal Lahaina is a meaningful milestone in our resort's journey of renewal," said Kuhns. "The new space is designed to serve as a wellness sanctuary where guests can experience the spirit of Maui through healing treatments and a deep connection to the island's culture. Royal Lahaina has undergone a remarkable transformation and we are proud to usher in a new era that honors the resort's legacy while elevating the experience of today's traveler."

A Season of Renewal
The serene spa is beautifully designed as an inviting retreat where guests can escape the warm Hawaiian sun and connect with the healing spirit of Maui—harmonizing with the island’s natural beauty, inspired by Hawaii’s native ‘Ohi‘a lehua plant. This plant symbolizes renewal, resilience and transformation.

Designed by Honolulu-based architects The Vanguard Theory, one feels immediately transported into a calming, coastal sanctuary as the designers used a blend of natural textures, soft neutral colors and contemporary furnishings. Michelle Jaime, Founding Principal and Creative Director of The Vanguard Theory said, 'The Spa's new beachfront location offers guests stunning ocean views, where they can enjoy treatments while watching whales glide past. The tropical modern design seamlessly connects the newly renovated resort, creating a continuum of serenity amid a stylish retreat.'

Jaime is also a LEED accredited professional who thoughtfully used her knowledge and expertise to use green building practices in energy and environmental design.
Spa guests can also sit outside at the open-air serenity lanai, offering picturesque panoramic views of the islands of Molokai and Lanai.

Guests seeking a manicure and pedicure can relax in the beauty bar. Begin with a floral soak, followed by a fruit enzyme exfoliation. Nails will receive cuticle care and nail shaping before Hawaiian tropical body butter is massaged on each hand and arm. Healthy looking nails are then polished or buffed as the finishing touch.

Guests sitting in one of the luxury pedicure chairs look out onto the resort's tropical garden and ocean beyond. One of the new signature treatments is a detoxifying lava salt soak, before a volcanic clay mask is applied, and then a deeply relaxing and nourishing body butter cream is massaged all over the lower legs and feet.

There are five private treatment suites where guests can select from a curated menu of massages, facials, body treatments and beauty services. Each wellness treatment is rooted in the warmth of aloha and the renewing mana of Maui.
One of the luxury treatment rooms is just for couples. They can experience a multi-sensory wellness experience side-by-side. A signature favorite is the Aloha Body Polish treatment using locally-made sugar scrub. The spa also provides Maui’s only 'Stellar Stem Cell Package', which includes a 60-minute stem cell facial to decrease lines and provide a more youthful appearance.

Guests can enhance each treatment with custom add-ons, including red light therapy, CO2 Lift Mask and a scalp or foot massage.

The resort’s extensive multi-million dollar renovations include refreshing the authentic old-Hawaiian style bungalows. Kuhns also had the public spaces redone, as well as the two heated oceanfront pools and four exciting new dining destinations. The poolside signature all-day restaurant, Lahaina Noon is a guest favorite, and the Pineapple Moon is a poolside food and beverage hut for guests relaxing by the pool or at one of the oceanfront cabanas.
Plan a trip to Maui this summer and take advantage of their 'Riviera of Renewal' special offer. Signature perks include a daily breakfast buffet for two people, a $75 daily resort credit, and VIP tickets for two to Myths of Maui Luau. It's the longest running luau on the island. Seven nights a week they provide a Hawaiian buffet dinner, along with music, fire dancing and storytelling about the history, aloha spirit and ancient traditions of the different Polynesian Islands.
