Helsinki's Summer Days Heat Up With Picnics, Saunas and More

Helsinki isn't a city that crops up in newspapers the world over, but that certainly doesn't mean it isn't the perfect place for a relaxing visit. With the summer season rolling in, the Finnish capitol is offering up a host of lovely things to do, like a casual stroll down the historic park avenue or a luxurious stay at the brand new Kulttuurisauna.

In summer, glorious, sun-filled days draw picnickers to every available last patch of grass in Helsinki. The city also has a timeless maritime character, with its location on the Baltic Sea offering views of the bay filled with boats and dozens of tiny islands. There's a cosmopolitan side to Helsinki, too, with striking architecture and street art as far as the eye can see.
