A rare Richard Avedon portfolio of Beatles portraits
taken in 1967 is expected to fetch up to $450,000 at Phillips de Pury & Company’s Photographs auction on October 4 in New York.

, was originally published on the cover of Look
magazine in January of 1968. Unique among Avedon’s works it uses dye-transfer saturation and psychedelic adornment to capture the spirit of the times. It remains one of the most famous images of the Fab Four.
