El Milagro ("the miracle") in Southern California is the type of estate we can see a young Hollywood star living in—especially one who loves golf and horses. The 21,000-square-foot Spanish-Mediterranean estate is found on a nine-acre plot in Rancho Santa Fe and underwent a $7 million renovation (including interior design) that added all the modern conveniences a luxury homeowner needs. Previously offered for $19.9 million, El Milagro is headed to auction without reserve through Concierge Auctions on August 15.
The main house has seven bedrooms, eight full bathrooms and three half baths, not to mention smart home features (like an elevator, power-controlled shades, and a state-of-the-art security system). The formal dining area can seat 30 and features authentic plaster ceilings that were designed and installed by English craftsmen, as well as a fireplace and French doors that open to a veranda.
Foodies will love the gourmet kitchen, which has preserved coffered wood ceilings and comes with dual SubZero refrigerators and a wine cooler, a Dacor oven, and a Viking stove. There is a casual breakfast area that can seat eight (along with counter seating for five) and a formal breakfast room with a barrel box ceiling and bi-fold doors that open onto a big veranda. There's also a wine cellar on the lower level that can fit 5,000 bottles.
El Milagro has two master suites, each promising great views from their private terraces. One of the suites has an Edwardian office and a bath finished in "Michelangelo marble," while the second master bath is finished in Namibia Sky marble and Ann Sacks tile mosaic.
There's also a grand formal living room with a shellstone fireplace, a media room, gym, and a bigger office with a quartz-topped desk that's mounted on a hydraulic lift system. The library has a fireplace with a 14th century stone-carved mantel, a gold leaf ceiling, and a libation bar finished in Grigio onyx. To make the room even cooler, there's a hidden shelving panel that opens to a refrigerator, sink, and a dumb waiter to the wine cellar—all for those grand Great Gatsby parties you plan on throwing.
Of course, the estate comes with a guest house, which has its own private entrance, and a resort-style pool and spa. Not only is there a tennis court, there's also professional putting and chipping greens that were designed by coach Dave Pelz. Buying El Milagro also means that you would have access to the Rancho Santa Fe Covenant amenities, including golf membership to their famous club, access to 60 miles of horseback riding trails, 18 miles of walking trails, a top-rated public school for the kids, and nine full-time security personnel.
