2011 Audi TT RS Coupe Coming to USA

Car News: Audi asked and got its answer. The people spoke and the German automaker is granting their wish. Audi announced that the 2011 Audi TT RS coupe is coming to the U.S. Interestingly, the decision by Audi stemmed from the overwhelming response received via its TT RS petition circulated on Facebook. In just one month more than 11,500 fans said yes in response to whether the TT RS coupe should come to America.

"With performance and agility rooted in Audi motorsports success, the TT RS is truly an emotional sports car," said Johan de Nysschen, president, Audi of America. "That emotion became abundantly clear as we explored interest across the country."

While the 2011 TT RS comes in coupe and roadster versions, only the coupe will be available in the U.S market. The permanent four-wheel sports car is powered by a redesigned five-cylinder engine, which delivers big on both performance and fuel-efficiency. The turbo-charged FSI engine was developed exclusively for the revamped TT RS.

Its 360-horsepower engine delivers a zero-to-60 acceleration 4.6 seconds. It comes with a manual six-speed transmission only to complete its motorsports spirit. The car's aluminum body construction produces a low drag coefficient of 0.32. The new design features a front fascia with a honeycomb grill, a fixed rear wing, larger exhaust pipes, and lower side skirts.

Pricing is yet to be determined for the U.S.-bound TT RS coupe. It will be in the U.S. by third quarter 2011.
