J Craft's Torpedo Powerboat Coming Full Speed to U.S. Market

Due to very successful sales of the J Craft Torpedo in Europe, the stylish luxury powerboat is entering the U.S. market this year. The Swedish luxury powerboat manufacturer will introduce the Torpedo at the upcoming Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show in February.

The powerboat with its distinctive shimmering mahogany deck has been very well received at every stop. It debuted at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2009. The Torpedo also appeared at the Loro Piana Super Yacht Regatta in Sardinia and at the Venice Film Festival.

"The Torpedo always causes a stir wherever it appears. It is such a beautiful looking boat. It is a brilliant day boat, with a great range and comfortable accommodation for four-plus crew. It is the perfect boat to go island hopping on," said Johan Attvik, CEO at J Craft.

More than 8,000 man-hours are logged in the building of a seaworthy Torpedo. This amazingly beautiful watercraft could be a standalone or serve a tender for a larger vessel. Powered by twin Volvo PENTA IPS500 pod-mounted engines, the high-performance powerboat's maximum speed broaches 50 knots, and it has a range of 350 nautical miles. The price of the Torpedo begins at around $1 million.

The Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show runs from February 17-21.
