San Diego Dining: Hike up your boot straps and mosey on down to San Diego's East Village for a culinary journey back to the wild west at Cowboy Star. This restaurant, complete with adjoining butcher shop, offers up fine dining inspired by California's pioneer past.
There are a variety of entrees featuring selections from local farmers markets, but it is the hand-cut steaks straight from the butcher shop that allow Cowboy Star to shine. A variety of cuts are complemented by tough-guy add-ons like roasted bone marrow.
Yelpers rank Cowboy Star 4 stars in all, with 253 reviewers generally giving 5 stars. The lamb short rib was touted as being the best starter, and their signature steak dishes are well-loved by many reviewers.
It's easy to see why Cowboy Star has won so many awards. The meal we had here was great. We had the carpaccio to start and shared the entree dishes we ordered, including the pork belly, and a delicious chicken plate. mmmm mouth waters just typing this.....
