The recently opened Allegretto Vineyard Resort in Paso Robles is making wine tasting a whole lot easier. Just a quick hour-long flight from San Francisco, the luxury hotel sits on 20 acres that feature 171 European-inspired rooms and suites, a spa, a 12,000-square-foot courtyard, the Cello Ristorante & Bar, a ballroom and an Abbey (which is a multi-use French-inspired chapel). Of course, no vineyard would be complete without tons of grape vines, and olive and fruit trees.
Taking its name from a musical term for a moderate tempo (one that’s neither too slow nor too fast), Allegretto wants to be a place for relaxation. “Our mission is to inspire and create joy in every aspect of our guests’ stays,” said General Manager Anna Olson in a recent press release. “‘Algretto’ is our ‘Aloha’.” Meant to inspire Italian vineyards, the rooms open to landscaped gardens and feature 14-foot ceilings, balconies or patios, Allegretto Dream Sleeper pillow-top mattresses, bespoke linens and specially-crafted amenities.
For wine tasting, guests can make reservations at the Cello Ristorante & Bar, which serves Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. Dishes are made using locally-sourced ingredients and are paired with an extensive wine list. For those who aren’t interested in vino, there are also plenty of craft cocktails and local artisanal beers available.
The on-site spa has zero-gravity chairs, an infrared detox sauna (for after wine tasting) and plenty of massage, facial and body treatments. They also offer a Wellness Program that includes yoga, fitness and dance classes.
Rates range from around $329 to $429 a night.
