La Selva, one of Tuscany’s last great private estates, has been listed for sale by Christie’s International Real Estate for about $26 million. Set on an incredible 2,200 acres near Siena, the property includes a historic castle, guest villas and a farmhouse. The heart of the estate is the Castello della Selva, which dates back to the 14th century. The castle comprises nearly 13,000 square feet of interior space with 14 bedrooms, three formal reception rooms, six living rooms, two kitchens and a study. Surrounding the castle is a swimming pool with a sauna and gym, horse paddocks, stables, barns and outbuildings. Some rooms feature 14th century painted ceilings and frescoes commissioned by the noble family that originally owned the property. 

In the southern part of the estate there are three colonial farmhouses with stunning panoramic views. Serving as guest villas, these houses are centered around a swimming pool and private lake. The Castel di Notte is a historic stone farmhouse reached by a private road with stunning views over the Murlo Valley. The estate also has its own vineyards and olive trees, and is fully equipped for breeding and training of American style Quarter Horses. All of the buildings boast several period fireplaces, some of them with ornate carving. The estate even boasts some pretty famous neighbors, with vineyards in Tuscany, in the form of Sting and Mario Batali.
