Arola Nights: Classics Beneath the Stars

Arola under Barcelona

Hotel Arts Barcelona

In honor of the end of summer, Hotel Arts Barcelona has introduced an evening under the stars with their new “Arola Nights.” Set on the terrace beneath twinkling stars at their famed waterfront restaurant and guest favorite, Arola, guests’ enjoy lite bites and cocktails while the ambiance of projected, silent films accompanies their indulgence.  From 9pm until midnight every Thursday, guests and locals alike have been delighting in the sounds of live jazz and blues tunes, while sipping cocktails named after popular classic films and star-directors such as Gilda and Hitchcock. In addition to cocktails, hotel guests munch on popcorn because of course it’s the best movie-snack, and a menu of traditional tapas is on-hand, as a Barcelona classic and Hotel Arts’ specialty.

The event is also accompanied by a special menu. Inspired by the classics, it features drinks such as the “Hitchcock”, a fiery fusion of Tequila, chili and mango. “Tototruffa” is also tequila based, and is complimented by strawberries, basil, balsamic and lime, for a tart but refreshing cocktail beneath the moon. If tequila is not your style, be tempted by the savory “Gilda” a mixture of Vodka, Ginger beer and beer topped off with a twist of lime. Of course, Hotel Arts is famed for their bright and cooling gin and tonics. A twist on the traditional gin and tonic is offered by way of “La Malafemmena.” Comprised of gin, lime, cucumber, mint, lemongrass, and elderflower, it’s perfectly paired with the various appetizers crafted specifically for Arola Nights.

Las Patatas Bravas de Arola is a guest favorite, with garlic mayonnaise and salsa brava adding Arola flair to a classic dish. Another flavorful snack is the Tortilla de patata, a Spanish omelet not confined to breakfast time, which works perfectly with the cravings of a late summer’s evenings.  For heartier dishes, try “La Bomba del Port”, a mixture of potato croquettes, beef and brava sauce, or the Iberian Ham Hotel Arts is known for serving with style. Another pleasantly plated dish is La Centolla y el Buey de mar, crab incorporated into a minced egg and tomato salad.

Arola Nights is only running through the end of the  summer  so visitors wishing to indulge in a taste of the classics will have a limited time to enjoy this special summer experience.
