Do you prefer to go out to the movies or watch in your own home?

After being a movie theater reviewer/critic for the THX Theater Alignment Program for years, I got to the point where I rarely went to movies as I was constantly picking the theater going experience apart. I much prefered just relaxing in the more intimate setting of my own home theater. Yes, I would occasionally make an excpetion for a major blockbuster in IMAX 3D, but, that was about it.

With all of the new "VIP Theaters" popping up that have much nicer aesthetics, stricter rules on disturbances (no texting, no or limited access for minors, etc.) and fewer seats, I have actually been back to the theaters a little more often. If these theaters paid more attention to their actual equipment so their performances approached my home cinema, then I would consider going even more often so I don't have to wait for the Bluray to come out. I would still purchase the Bluray for use at home.

What are your thoughts on the subject?

In your response, can you please indicate if you have or have access to a nice home theater in the first place. If not, is it on your wish list?

Thanks!

Randy
