Lake Tahoe Garden Club Tour July 2014
By Sharon Gay
Plan to buy tickets ahead of time for the fabulous Lake of the Sky Garden Club's Annual Garden Tour featuring gorgeous Lake Tahoe gardens. View 7-10 gardens. Light refreshments will be served at one of the lakefront gardens.
Last year's tour of Incline Village gardens completely sold out at 500 tickets the week before the tour. No tickets were available at the gate. Plan well in advance to attend.
The garden club’s goals are to promote an interest in gardening, with particular emphasis on the problems at high altitude, to support charitable, educational, and scientific works, as well as to initiate and participate in beautification and developmental gardening projects in the North Tahoe basin region.
The club has donated tens of thousands of dollars in the past to recipients including Thunderbird Lodge, Tahoe City Historical Society, Watson Cabin, Gatekeeper’s Museum, Vikingsholm, Girl Scouts, Project MANA, as well as local schools and libraries.
Lake of the Sky Garden Club is a nonprofit organization with 80 members. Sharon Gay is a past president of the Club. The club is a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., Pacific Region, and California Garden Clubs, Inc., Golden Foothills District.
