Pre-Holiday Skin Game Plan: What Actually Works in 10 Days, 30 Days, 90 Days

November is National Healthy Skin Month, making it a great time to put skin care and good skin practices in the spotlight. As the season unfolds, people are out at events, taking photos, and finding themselves more in front of the camera. Looking one's best by having healthy-looking skin says a lot without ever having to speak up. The good news is that whether someone has 10 days to prepare or 90 days, certain treatments can help them look their best.

“The holidays are full of photo-worthy moments, and there’s still time to get your skin looking its best,” says Dr. Brandon Richland, founder of Richland MD and Richland Aesthetics. “Taking action now helps you look refreshed and confident through the holidays and into the New Year.”

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, National Healthy Skin Month takes place each November. It's a time to pay attention to one's skin, learn about it, and adopt habits that can lead to healthier skin. Everyone needs healthy skin, as it's the human body's largest organ and plays a crucial role in the body's overall well-being. As the most visible part of our appearance, the skin often motivates us to invest in maintaining its health and appearance.

Most people are seeking ways to help turn back the clock as aging becomes evident in their skin. The National Institute on Aging reports that skin changes as people age, and it often becomes thinner, no longer looking plump and smooth. As we age, skin tends to become thinner, paler, and less elastic as the blood vessels become more fragile. The loss of elastin and collagen can cause the skin to appear older, develop wrinkles, and become more fragile.

Some treatments can help counter the issues that people face with their skin, whether due to aging or other conditions. Now is a great time to get party and photo-ready by taking steps to enhance the skin. Whether someone has weeks or months to prepare, some highly effective and affordable solutions will ensure people feel good and like what they see when they look in the mirror.

Here is a 10, 30, and 90-day plan for having healthier, more beautiful skin:

10 days - Those who need to look their best in 10 days will want to opt for treatments that are swelling-risk-free. This means avoiding heavy exfoliation and alcohol. Ideal treatments to consider include a HydraFacial, dermaplaning, and light chemical peels. These treatments offer an immediate glow with minimal downtime, making them suitable for entertaining guests and achieving a photo-ready appearance.

30 days – Those with a month window for treatment will want to consider getting ready for photo season with a strategic neurotoxin. The strategic dosing will do wonders for the skin. Other ideal options include superficial lasers/IPL and SkinPen Microneedling with PRP, which can smooth out fine lines and tone the skin for event-ready photos.

90 days – New Year's goals and beyond will focus on collagen-building. This is the time to plan for spring, including weddings, baby showers, outdoor recreation, parties, and more. Great options to consider include CO2/resurfacing, collagen-stimulating injectables, Morpheus8 (radio frequency), and Microneedling SkinPen with PRP. This timeframe allows for collagen remodeling and will have the skin looking great for spring events. Surgery is another option that fits this timeframe for tightening skin; however, it won't improve the quality and texture.

"No matter what you want to address with your skin, we can make it happen," says Dr. Richland.
