JustLuxe Interviews: Benny and Stacey Shabtai, Co-Founders of Botanika Life

Throughout history, there have been many couples who created great ideas, processes, and products – from science to art to photography. Each brings a vital area of expertise the other didn’t –with both creating hybridized ideas that merged into new products and ways of thinking that had not been conceived before. 

The Global Wellness Summit, written about in JustLuxe, defined pandemic relevance on many levels, eventuating on what is called a global values reset. This reset involves a re-definition of wellness – more than just facials, massages, and spin classes.  It now includes an emerging focus on the importance of mental wellbeing, work-life and circadian rhythm balancing, and environmental sustainability. These are drivers that now underpin mind/body recoveries, and will also shift consumer, policy and healthcare spending in new directions.

These new ideas, relating to a new health and wellness paradigm, is where Benny and Stacey Shabtai, merge individually, and emerge as a couple.

Indeed, they could be considered the ultimate wellness couple, as their mission and vision are balanced in a unique way: Benny is a successful Israeli businessman, and Stacey is a former New York Ford Agency Model. But each defines more than their careers, because with their united philanthropic desire to help others, they created a brand, Botanika Life, with a product series that helps today’s wellness issues: pain management, jet lag, hormone imbalance, and sleep issues, all using the most functional and newest principles of eco-sensitivity and cleanliness.

Botanika Life is a clean/green/vegan product line that was introduced on the market in December of 2020. This curated portfolio features clean & safe skin elixirs, topicals for pain relief, a sleep and immune boost spray duo, and a variety of bath soaks among other new wellness products.

The products utilizes natural, plant-based and CBD based ingredients to allow the healing powers of plants and flowers to be utilized in innovative formulas for pain relief, health and wellness, beauty and sleep solutions. It is a fully vegan product line, with eco-friendly, no plastic packaging, to ensure a high level of eco-sensitivity.

The whole concept of helping with pain was first learned about, then researched by Stacey in 2017, when she discovered that using CBD oil helped Benny with his painful, long-term inflammatory issues. The tincture not only managed his pain, but also, brought down his blood pressure, and blood sugar.  After using CBD for a week, his blood pressure regulated, and his sugar levels evened out.  They both saw that this product, natural, clean, and green, could help many more than Benny.

This is where it started.  Since then, manuy of Botanika Life's products contain CBD oil, and other pure ingredients. As examples, the morning elixir combines Vitamin C, Zinc and CBD Skin. At night, there is a Plant Stem Cell, Marula and CBD Skin Elixir for anti-aging support. All blended with full spectrum CBD to elevate the calming experience and de-stress the skin.

JustLuxe was appreciative to converse with this unique couple recently.

JustLuxe: The Botanika Life brand includes many new wellness solutions. How are they different as a whole from other products on the wellness market? 

Ms. Shabtai: Our vision is simple: to better people’s lives. We are results driven, and we have created products that generate a greater sense of comfort and ease in daily life, a trifecta of sorts: help with stress reduction, pain management, and better sleep, through the rebalance of circadian rhythms. 

JustLuxe: What attracted you to the wellness field? What did you see both present and future that made you decided to invest time and money into this? 

Ms. Shabtai --  Well, because I worked the the Ford Modeling agency for many years, I knew that your skin is the most visible, the largest, and often the most important organ of the body, and really often the most neglected. Our culture is one of hurrying up, and rarely slowing down, and it takes a toll. All Benny and I wanted to do was to create a brand that understands the needs of those who lived in our fast-paced world. We wanted a brand that allowed the body to take a breath, and to be and become well.

JustLuxe: What is CBD, and how important is it in your product line?

Mr. Shabtai --CBD is one of more than 100 chemical compounds called cannabinoids that are found in the cannabis plant, Cannabis sativa. But CBD is not psychoactive. This quality makes CBD an appealing option for those who are looking for relief from pain and other symptoms. without mind-altering effects of cannabis or other side effects related to some pharmaceutical drugs.

CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant and then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut oil or hemp seed oil. CBD can be found in a variety of products online and in stores, including dietary supplements, bath soaks, drinks, and food.  It is a mainstay in our products, because it deals so effectively with pain management, calming, and health management. It continues to gain momentum in the health and wellness world. 

JustLuxe: How do you both see the wellness future? Will there be new product advancements for Botanika Life?

Ms. Shabtai:  We are very interested in hormone therapies, and how they can create better  hormone balance, and thus, greater hormone health.

Mr. Shabtai:  We believe that CBD helps in many areas of life when we are young, and when we grow older also.  We want to be The Honest Company of Wellness, in all of life’s stages.
