Acura TL 2011: A Smart Luxury Sedan

The Acura TL is a sedan worth getting to know better if value is as important as luxury to you.

This is a vehicle that possesses the styling, engineering, and performance generally associated with automobiles costing nearly twice as much. It comes standard with a 3.5-liter V-6 with Honda’s patented VTEC system, delivering 280 horsepower at 254 pound-feet of torque. Other standard features include a five-speed automatic transmissions with steering–wheel mounted paddle shifters, an electric variable power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, and a double-wishbone front- and multi-link rear suspension system. And that is only the beginning.

Perhaps the best feature of the Acura TL is the number of options available from which to choose. With eight TL packages, each one has something unique that sets it apart.

The TL SH-AWD model has a 3.7-liter V-6 engine with 305 horsepower at 273 pound-feet of torque and all-wheel drive capability. It also has 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels instead of the TL’s 17-inch ones and a bumper-integrated front-brake cooling ducts. It is subtle yet substantial to drivers with specific needs.

Both the TL and the TL SH-AWD are available with a Technology Package that addresses safety, convenience, and entertainment most thoroughly. It even has premium leather-trimmed interior for an extra splash of luxury.

The Acura Navigation System has a rear view camera, patented traffic rerouting, and real-time traffic updates and weather reports. The system’s built-in Zagat Survey ratings and reviews sharpen decision-making for going places with information that puts you and your preference for dining and lodging options in sync with one another.

Acura’s 440-watt Acura/ELS Surround system with 10 speakers, HDD music storage, in-dash CD, DVD-audio, MP3, WMA and DTS player is a sound investment with measureable entertainment quality. It features Dolby Pro Logic and XM Radio as well. The package also includes a GPS-linked and solar-sensing climate control, and a Bluetooth HandsFreeLInk system. All three systems operate via voice recognition. A keyless access system completes the package.

If you are looking for more choices within the model options, the TL SH-AWD with Technology Package comes with both an automatic and a manual transmission. Additionally, high-performance tires with 19-inch spoke aluminum-alloy wheels are available in both packages. It also is noteworthy that a luxury sedan that comes with so many choices has a price range from the basic model to the total package from $35,305 to $43,585. Lastly yet most importantly, look at all the TL’s safety features, such as its stability, tire pressure, and airbag systems.

Automobile.com, in its review of the TL, said, “For versatility and high-tech features the 2011 TL is a premium choice.”

No argument here.
