Aston Martin is the latest auto marque to announce a move into all-electric vehicles. The company recently revealed a new deal with Chinese tech company LeEco (they finance Faraday Future) for the production of the Aston Martin RapidE electric vehicle concept. According to an Aston press release, the companies hope to create an entire next-generation range of electric cars.

Formerly known as LeTV, LeEco will apparently be providing Aston with batteries and transmission materials to bring the RapidE sedan to the market in 2018. This isn’t the first time the two companies will have worked together, since in January they unveiled the Aston Martin Rapide S, with “the latest Letv Internet of the Vehicle (IOV) system.” While a few of LeTV’s other ventures are doubted by some media outlets (like their less-than-remarkable supercar concept announced in January), it seems like Aston is taking this next step incredibly seriously. After all, they have a legacy to maintain.

For engine purists, don’t worry. The famed brand isn’t doing away with their power-packed twin turbo anytime soon and their highly-anticipated V12 DB11 is still on its way.
