News & Trends: Luxury store, Barneys New York, has announced some new behind-the-scenes upgrades; promoting Simon Doonan to new role of Creative Ambassador-at-Large, while Dennis Freedman joins Barneys New York as Creative Director.
Doonan’s new role will include many responsibilities like being a key spokesperson for the elite brand and continuing with window display projects. He will also host special events with customers and media, as well as be a roving ambassador with links to all creative and communication areas, including social media.
Since his arrival at Barneys in 1986, Doonan has become world renowned for his lavish window displays, earning a reputation as a legend of window design.
“This exciting evolution of my role at Barneys is brilliant. Change has always been integral to the strength and vibrancy of the Barneys brand. I am delighted to be part of this new chapter,” said Doonan.
Dennis Freedman has been a creative force in fashion for decades and is joining Barneys New York
as Creative Director. He will be providing leadership in the areas of all photographic and video images, graphic design, store design and image, along with visual merchandising. His role in merging art, fashion and design will also be used at Barneys.com and the Co-Op.
