Harare Shopping

Shopping for local curios and artwork is a popular activity for visitors to Zimbabwe - towns and tourist hotspots often feature a number of markets and curio stores and Harare is no exception. Head for the Avondale markets atop the old Avondale shopping centre on King George Road to haggle for jewellery and craft bargains. For general shopping, head for the Doon Estate shopping centre in Harrow Road, where there''s another Art Market featuring work by a number of local artists.

For more upmarket mementos, head for the Patrick Mavros gallery and jewellery store in Haslemere Lane for gorgeous African-inspired silver jewellery and sculptures, including limited edition signature pieces. These internationally renowned pieces are also available at the flagship store in London, although the pieces are hand made at the workshop in Harare. There''s also the Umwinsivalley Ceramics gallery and shop in Umwinsedale Road.
