Deep Sea Fishing at Hotel Palmas de Cortez at Los Barriles

Hotel Palmas de Cortez

Flying into Los Cabos, there is a small and lively fishing village about one hour north from the airport. It's between San Jose del Cabo and La Paz. Pulling into the Van Wormer Resort Hotel Palmas de Cortez in Los Barriles, located right on the beach, this hotel is a popular vacation destination for couples, families and fishing enthusiasts. People from all over the world come to this destination to fish and enjoy the Baja California Sur sunshine.

The world renowned Sea of Cortez is one of the premier big game fishing spots in the world. It's home to blue, black, and striped marlin, yellow fin tuna, beautiful yellow, blue and green dorado (mahi-mahi) and other fish and marine life.

Situated on miles of white sand beach, small dark gray rays levitate out of the water producing a slapping sound throughout the day and evening. Guests gather during the day at the swim up bar at the infinity pool for a cerveza or margarita. In the evening they meet for an al fresco meal at the beachfront Bay view restaurant.

Also at the resort is Umi Sushi Bar offering specialty rolls, hand rolls, nigiri, sashimi, ceviche, teppanyaki and yakimeshi.

In the summer when it is hot, there are multiple swimming pools at the resort to stay cool. The resort also offers snorkeling and diving excursions to nearby beaches for marine life viewing nearby or in La Paz.

T.T. Cabo del Este is a ground transfer company that works directly with Van Wormer Resorts to provide transportation to and from the airport for guests. T.T. Cabo Del Este also offers guided services to any location in Baja California Sur.

Checking into the resort, guests appreciate the spacious and air conditioned oceanfront rooms, poolside rooms, palapa roofed cabanas, garden rooms and larger suites. Some rooms have hammocks for a gentle swinging afternoon siesta.

Those who choose not to fish, can have a spectacular day swimming with rays, snorkeling, kayaking, or just relaxing poolside.

The Hotel Palmas De Cortez newer luxury tower is located directly in front of the free-form infinity swimming pool and bar. The higher levels have beautiful ocean views.

This three-story building offers one and two bedroom luxury suites with deep soaking bathtubs and separate showers, and a kitchenette and dining area. There is also a three bedroom penthouse on the third floor for families, and a large rooftop deck that can be used for gatherings and weddings.

Those looking to go fishing for the day need to wake up at sunrise, have a quick breakfast at the resort's Tico's restaurant, and walk down to the private boat dock. Some days over 50 boats are lined up to take guests of the resort out to embark on a fishing adventure. There are affordable fishing/resort packages that can be customized to meet the needs of your group of 2 to 200 people.

After a day of fishing, guests can have their catch filleted and grilled for dinner. There's nothing quite like the pleasing taste of freshly caught grilled fish at a restaurant in Baja Calfornia Sur.

For those looking for an off-the-beaten-path vacation, the Van Womer Hotel Palmas de Cortez in Los Barriles offers plenty of sunshine, aquamarine water, fresh seafood, cold beers, salty margaritas and swinging hammocks.
